Roy Jenkins
Roy Jenkins had a demanding political career as a Labour Home Secretary, President of the EU and founder of the SDP. He led a life of variety and drama, from Enigma ciphers in the war, to the Chancellorship of Oxford University. Despite that, he found the time to write many major biographies, such as those on Attlee, Balfour, Dilke, Asquith, Truman, Baldwin, Gladstone and Churchill, and was widely known and respected as a statesman, politician and man of letters.
